Dr. Xu’s Photography

Photographs
by Ginger Xu, MD

Ginger Xu, MD is a Harvard-trained female plastic surgeon who has had a lifelong penchant for the arts. She is fortunate to be able to apply this artistic lens to her work every day by enhancing and honoring the individual aesthetics of her patients with a fine-tuned sense of harmony and beauty.

Her journey in photography began in high school, where she first learned to develop her own film. She later presented a photojournalism project on Chinese migrant workers while attending college at Stanford. During medical school at NYU, she ran the Photography Club and spent study breaks making prints in the darkroom. She just recently picked up her camera and her craft again through a workshop led by Parker J Pfister in the Scottish Highlands.

“Photography is a way of life – it is a love affair with being alive"

This collection is a meditation on timeless landscapes, exploration, and the solace and stirring beauty one finds in the quietude of the natural world. You will find stark, haunting images of the Isle of Skye enshrouded in mist, the raw rugged beauty of unnamed coastlines, and the delicate lyricism of Irish woodlands dappled in light.
